The Camp Crystal Lake Chronicals

 What happened to Jason Voorhees?

Friday: September 13, 1986

Lake goers have wondered what happened to Jason Voorhees. There have been no reports of Jason in several years. Has he left the camp for good?

They hope so as the plan to open back up next summer for the first time since 1984 when eleven people were killed including a deputy Sheriff. The grisly scene was a gruesome blood bath.

THE STORY AS WE KNOW IT

Jason's vengeful mother Pamela Voorhees her bloodthirsty quest against those she blamed for her son's death, and focused on revenge was killed at the cabins.

Jason has gone on slaughtering the teenagers of Camp Crystal Lake as punishment for his own death as a child and his mother's murder.

His strength, immortality, and preferred choice of victims have resulted in Jason being grouped with slashers like Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger.

Jason differs from the others in one significant aspect—he refuses to harm those that he deems as "innocent."

Despite being presented with several opportunities, Jason has never killed a child or an animal. He deems them innocent.

Jason, a product of his mother's puritan beliefs and his own tragic death, believes that his murder sprees are the only way to please her and avenge them both; he doesn't get joy out of his kills.

Jason primarily targets the teenage counselors of Camp Crystal Lake. Given that Jason died as a child due to negligent adults, it stands to reason that he would feel sympathetic to any child that he comes across, and be understanding of their position in the world.

Unlike adults—particularly sexually active ones—Jason sees children as harmless and innocent and would be unwilling to kill those that can't protect themselves.

This lingering aspect of Jason's humanity has remained throughout all the years even when he's in the presence of children who wish him harm. He will not hurt them.

FIGURING OUT THE PAST

Tommy Jarvis is often considered to be Jason's nemesis, managing to defeat him twice and live. When Tommy was first introduced in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, he was a young boy, and Jason ignored him in favor of attacking the promiscuous, drunken teenagers partying in the house next door.

Although Tommy killed him with his own machete, Jason expressed little desire in harming the child in return.

It wasn't until Jason Lives that the now-adult Tommy became a target for Jason, who pursued him to the waters of Camp Crystal Lake - leaving a cabin full of children unharmed.

Unlike his fellow murderers, Jason was given sympathetic to young children and animals. Anyone else could be next.

The motivation for his crimes has occasionally showcased aspects of his humanity. Although Jason is one of horror's most iconic murderers, everyone is not treated equally.

The Lord’s Prayer, combined with the convenient arrival of police, distracted Jason when he was face to face with a little girl in her bed in a room full of sleeping children.

Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees is one of the iconic monsters in history. He is a skilled killer who can eliminate a camp full of people in a night.

TOMMY KILLED JASON

To bring him to his death, Tommy shaved his head to look like a young Jason, which caused the killer to become confused. Trish took off Jason's mask when he's distracted and hacks his face. When it seemed he may still be alive, Tommy, in panic, began to hack away at Jason's face.

It appeared Jason had returned to life, but that wasn't the case this time. Jason was dead. Cursed and thrown back into the lake. The end of Jason?

FRIDAY THE 13TH  - JASON LIVES

Jason was sent to the morgue. The medical examiner noticed his heart was still beating. Fascinated by it, and he could believe it. The next morning Jason's body was gone.

Apparently, after Jason's initial death from drowning, his mother found a book that could resurrect him.

Thus, when he came back, he had otherworldly, super-powered abilities.

Jason's mother makes a deal with the devil by praying to him to bring her son back from the clutches of hell. This is why Jason isn't gone. Jason isn't dead.

Jason's resurrection wasn't fully understood until now. How did a woman who was decapitated bring her son back?

It was a grand effort to uncover the truth behind Jason Voorhees's existence, but the reality was that Jason Voorhees couldn't be killed because he'd been shot, stabbed, chopped up, and even electrocuted.

So the lake goers want to know where Jason Voorhees is currently and will he make a return to the lake once renovations are complete?

"We moved here about nine months ago and we've been fishing out here on the lake since we arrived." Fred Thompson told the newspaper.

The land is protected by the state, and the camp has been there since 1939. The place has been renamed, rebuilt, and redesigned several times in the camp's past. Since 1978 Jason had reported yearly by campers.

"We are reopening the camp because we believe that it's a gem. A true asset to the area that we should take full advantage of having, and not just leave it to be reclaimed by nature." Mark Windell told the newspaper.

Yes, this camp is definitely opening back up, but the real question is whether it should, and the opinions on that are divided.

The majority that I spoke with said the bloody past is just too much. The gruesome murders had tainted the reputation and would people travel to come here like they'd done in the past.
